I took this photo before we went to Baltimore. In our old apartment we never had enough room to set up the full layout for Robin—we’d do simple loops for him, but nothing this exciting. He was pretty thrilled with it. After a few hours, though, he’d pretty well wrecked the layout: I need to build a new one for him that doesn’t include elevations, as those seem to be the most vulnerable to flailing little-boy arms and feet.

Nice layout! I used to take pictures of all my best Thomas track layouts with the idea that I’d recreate them later, but I never did.

This is the one that came pictured on the box, but it’s not actually a good layout for a toddler — in order to get to the middle bits of track, he has to crawl over the outer rings. And then of course the outer track gets destroyed. It was fun to use all the pieces of the set, but it didn’t turn out to be a very practical layout.
