New Substack
So I’m doing a Substack! It’ll be a piece of speculative fiction every Monday, starting with short stories and moving into serialized novels. The welcome message talking about my writing career is here: joshannonphillips.substack.com/p/welcome
And the first short story, “The Lady of Roch Shan,” is here. It’s about a wise-woman in a Celtic fantasy landscape forced to pit her craft against the schemes of a wayward noblewoman and her fairy lover. It was the first story I ever sold, to Dragon magazine back in 1994, and I’ll always be grateful to Wolfgang Baur who was the editor then. I talk a little bit in the introduction about how much Dragon meant to me, growing up.
