I don&#8217;t think pre-orders are available yet, but I have been given permission to share the illustration that will accompany my story:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3491\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/shannon.users.sonic.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/fight2.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/shannon.users.sonic.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/fight2-450x350.jpeg\" alt=\"fight2\" width=\"415\" height=\"323\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3491\" srcset=\"http:\/\/shannon.users.sonic.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/fight2-450x350.jpeg 450w, http:\/\/shannon.users.sonic.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/fight2-1024x795.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The art is by Sergio Garzon; it illustrates a scene where my heroine, Tess, is fighting a monster in an alien arena. I really like the dark, stylized feel of the art. There&#8217;s almost something vertiginous about it, which perfectly suits the subject matter. <\/p>\n<p>And I&#8217;m particularly pleased that the black-and-white style preserves a lot of ambiguity as to Tess&#8217;s exact features. I think the only physical description I gave her in the story was a single reference to her &#8220;brown human hand,&#8221; so really the only important thing is that she not be whitewashed.
